What is specialty tea?
Specialty tea is usually handcrafted (grew, harvested and processed) in a single estate in their entirety (loose-leaf/orthodox). It is in this format that tea is required to be of higher quality, coupled with skilled harvesting, handling and processing in order to encapsulate the many nuances and complexities. The flavour is also enriched by the terroirs and seasonalities which makes it a fascinating experience to sample.

Why an Exploration Kit?
We believe there are always new teas to be discovered but due to the vast variety, availability, and cost, it is not always easy or feasible. Our Exploration Kit is designed to let you experience a variety of quality specialty teas with less investment. Having a smaller quantity of teas also lets you finish the teas (such as green tea) at their prime. The amount of tea included in each kit is enough for several brews, giving you the opportunity to pair and compare them alone or with friends!

Do I need special teaware to brew the tea?
Nope. How you want to enjoy your tea moment is entirely up to you - whether you make your tea using a mug and a tea infuser or set out a brewing table completed with all tools and teaware.

What to look out for when I brew the tea?
We have included a brewing guide to help you get started but everyone has different tastes and preferences so don’t be afraid to experience. However please do pay attention to the water temperature as some teas are better when brewed cooler than boiled. Another rule of thumb is to remove the tea leaves promptly after the brewing time is up. This way you have less chance to over steep the tea, which also allows you to re-steep multiple brews.

Where is Teakan located?
We're located in Vancouver, Canada.

What does Teakan mean?
Teakan is our play on the word "tea time". You're already familiar with the first word "tea". The word "kan" is derived from the Chinese character for space and time. We want you to take a moment to savour your tea, regardless of where or when you're brewing it. Let your senses explore all that tea has to offer, from how it smells to the tasting notes you can detect.

Shipping & Return

Where do you ship to?
We currently only ship our Exploration Kit within Canada and to the United States using Canada Post. Sign up for our newsletter and be the first to know when shipping to other countries becomes available!

How much is shipping?
For Tea Exploration Kit - Enjoy FREE shipping for our Exploration Kit in Canada. For customers in the United States, shipping rates are shown at checkout.

For Loose Leaf Teas - We offer FREE shipping within Canada on orders of $50 or more before taxes. Canadian orders under $50 and all US orders have a flat rate standard shipping of $12.

Please note that we will not be responsible for any customs clearance charges and duties incurred at the destination country. Tracking is not available for free or standard shipping options.


Can I combine the Tea Exploration Kit with Loose Leaf Tea for shipping?
Currently we are unable to offer combined shipping for our products. Our Tea Exploration Kit is in a ship-ready packaging and will ship separately from the Loose Leaf Teas. We are using the best packaging option to offer the lowest shipping cost possible. 

When is my order shipped?
We process orders within 1-3 business days. Pre-order items will be shipped in the estimated time frame as per the item description. 


How long will it take to get my order?
Shipping will vary depending on your location but generally, you can expect your package to arrive within 3-5 business days if your shipping address is within British Columbia. For other Canadian provinces and territories, your expected delivery date is 7-10 business days once the item has been shipped. For the United States, please expect the shipping time to be 10-14 days.

Can I return an item for a refund?
Due to health and safety concerns, our teas and Exploration Kits are final sale and are not eligible for returns. However, if for some reason you are not happy with our teas or kit, please contact us as we would like to understand what the issues could be.
